Economical solution for the use of Digital Elevation Models in own developments
Kempen, May 25, 2007
C. Killet Software Ing.-GbR

Killet Software Ing.-GbR, geo software developer based in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, supplemented its function library GeoDLL with a module for the use of Digital Elevation Models. The distribution of the GeoDLL version 10.10 starts on 15th of June.

GeoDLL can be used by enterprises, which develop their own geodetic software or work in-house with geodetic software. Precise functions are contained in it about the topics datum and coordinate transformation, coordinate and reference system, distance calculation, Digital Elevation Model, mapping and converting. The functions can be linked as Dynamic Link Library or as C++ sourcecode platform spreading into own applications.

The latest version of GeoDLL now contains functions to use Digital Elevation Models (DEM) to determine ground level elevations of arbitrary points on the earth's surface. Thereby the focal point of all considerations is the aspect of cost saving. GeoDLL uses the data of the 3 seconds elevation model (90 m raster) CGIAR and of the 30 seconds elevation model (1 km raster) GLOBE, which are free available with some restrictions. Both systems were developed by the NASA and can be downloaded free of charge from the Internet. Considering the copyrights this data may be used for the solution of many geodetic tasks. The distribution of the GeoDLL functions supporting Digital Elevation Models starts at the 15th of June with a net price beginning at 400,- Euro. Detailed information, a GeoDLL test version and the possibility to pace a pre-order you can find in the Internet at the address http://www.killetsoft.com/p_gdld_e.htm.
